Spirit of the Wood

Picture
Chris puts the finishing touches to a Wood Spirit at Yarrow Park

Using locally sourced and wind felled trees, Chris Barber specialises in creating both visually stimulating and practical places for people to learn about and connect with nature. Some of his work also makes sounds and are of great interest to partially sighted people who can also enjoy the smooth and rough texture that the wood form holds. Chris can provide schools with outdoor classrooms and story telling areas which offer an enchanted escape from the indoors where children's imagination will be inspired.

Working alongside Chris, community groups and schools have enjoyed rustic furniture making courses and wood carving workshops which promotes a sense of ownership with the artwork. In the design stage of the art project, both books and computers can be used to aid the design of the sculpture. Chris has also held Eco Therapy courses helping adults with mental heath problems. This has proven to be very useful in helping people with their recovery in a socially inclusive environment.

Private commisions are also welcome and Chris would always advise that you contact Eco Creative Artwork to discuss your particular requirments.

Eco Creative Artwork also manufactures bespoke rustic furniture from simple Hobbit stools to wonderful story telling chairs, tables and mirrors using both recycled wood and timber from sustainable local woodlands.
